At first spritz, the smell took me right back to memories of hotel breakfasts, specifically in French boutique hotels. The coffee comes through first, delightfully roasted, gourmand without being sweet. Then, a surprising duo of vanilla and papery notes. The vanilla is soft, delicately feminine without being cloying, and - of course - pairs wonderfully with the coffee. The papery notes are intriguing, almost dusty (in a good way!), adding some character and mystery. They made me think of the smell of newspapers, (the kind you'd get with your hotel breakfast!) adding an element of storytelling to the perfume.
Over time, the coffee fades, followed by vanilla. What remains is a warm, toasty, smoky and musky scent that reminds me of BOOK by Commodity, one of my favourite cosy autumn/winter scents.
Got a sample of this and may just need to buy the full bottle! Lactonic, buttery, sweet and long lasting. A great fall cozy scent.
